There are various designs to improve web navigation. However, a fundamental issue is still not addressed in all these designs: the consistency of navigation models across different websites. In addition, almost all of the current designs are static; users have to adapt their navigation behaviors to each model and follow it all the time on a particular website. This research proposes a new web navigation model to address these problems. The proposed solution provides an independent site structure protocol in XML for navigation, which is then interacted with users through a consistent and personalized client interface. Such a model offers consistency, convenience and flexibility for users to easily adapt web navigation to their needs.

  • Currently, a FireFox add-on is being developed. Several new protocol features are being designed to satisfy more information behavior needs.
